Check this read out. Seems like you've done something similar but maybe not entirely?

Make sure you clean that junkyard tank out completely and get all the moisture out of it else you'll run into other problems.

What do recommend to clean the tank with?

Also for the OP, I found a TSB on the issue. A quick google search of TSB 14-001-09 should help you out if you are still having problems

Honestly you "can" use rags and water, but you'll have to make sure you get it all out of there... So, I'd suggest that you use alcohol or gasoline to clean it out with rags, but that's dangerous, so it's really your call.

You just don't want to get a lot of dirty, or that ethanol crud that gunks up when fuel sits too long...

I've seen people pour stabil into an empty tank slosh it around a few times per hour over like 4-6 hours and then pour it out and all kinds of crud comes out, so that might be a good method too.

Well my "new" junkyard tank is in. I put 20+ gallons in in less than 3 minutes! :-D That woulda took me over a half hour with my old tank!

After looking over the old tank once it was pulled, I saw nothing different from the new one, so where the problem actually arose from, I have no idea...

Now that I got it fixed for a fraction of the cost the dealer was gonna charge, I really don't care much anymore what the actual problem was...

Best of luck to the OP
