I had the infinity sound system in my old 2008 and I hated it. The speakers suck and I blew them two times without even turning my radio up loud. I eventually switched out my two front 6X9's for some Pioneer's and they sounded SO much better.

I just placed an order with Crutchfield. Pioneer DEH-P9400BH receiver, Axxess steering wheel control adapter, Sound Ordnance under-seat powered sub (100 watt), amp/sub connection kit for the wiring. They include a basic wiring harness and a single din mounting kit that has a nice little pocket built in under the radio (hoping an iphone will fit in there). But I also had to order a factory integration interface that allows me to use the radio with the factory amp and speakers.

I compared a lot of receivers and I wish this one had the usb plug on the front instead of the back. But I'm thinking I'll run the iphone cord thru a small hole I'll cut in the back of the pocket on the mounting faceplate. I can also stream to this one with bluetooth.

I would have loved to have put a sub tube or box in, instead of something under the seat, but I know it would just be in the way all the time.

Every car is different... it also depends on what your Bass/Treb/Mid settings are that will determine if your speakers are constantly "Clipping" thus causing premature failure.

I've done too many installs to count on the OEM infinity equipped vehicles and when I am done they sound Awesome... unless the customer didn't take my recommendations and cheap out, then they ended up coming back and spending more $... so it was usually a Win Win...

I actually miss installing stuff... but oh well had to move up in the world... I also prided myself on making sure my customers were 100% informed of their choices up-front before I even touched their vehicles... a lot of them really appreciate that, which is nice.

I know this is a little late, but I just changed out the head unit in my 05. I did use Crutchfield as well. The in dash install kit you mentioned with the little "cubby" underneath it was a perfect fit in my dash...BUT IT DID NOT FIT THE RADIO I SELECTED...I even checked with them more than once before purchasing everything. So I still had to run to the store in the middle of my install to get a different one. Probably better off anyway as the one I bought was made in the USA.

Crutchfield reimbursed me fully for the kit I bought (emailed them my receipt for proof) so I really don't have a huge complaint other than it was a slight hassle.

There are two ways that units fit that mount. Mine wouldn't slide through it as described so I called crutchfield and the guy walked me thru how to do with the 2 optional plastic clip on pieces that came with the mount.

Also, the positive wire hookup on my sub would not turn tight no matter how much I turned the screw. I was worried that it would come loose over time. I called CF and they shipped me another unit asap with a prepaid return label for the other one. No questions asked even though the first one I bought was an open box purchase.

I've heard this more and more lately with Crutchfield's dash kits... I guess that is the downfall of purchasing stuff on the internet.. lol

My bet is they sent you a "Multi-Kit" which is intended to fit multiple different vehicles of the same or similar auto manufacturers... so there were probably pieces in there that needed to be swapped to allow it to install correctly.

As long as the dash kit fits the vehicle you can nearly always modify it to fit the radio. Just need some industrial strength hot glue, and some plastic spacers and other misc parts.
