transmission engagement issues on 07 Ram1500
HI! I have a 07 Ram 1500 quad cab with automatic trans and hemi engine. If I put the vehicle in gear and gradually step on the accelerator everything works fine. However, if I depress the accelerator sharply (1/4 way or more) the vehicle feels like something is slipping and all of a sudden there is a bang and the transmission engages and I take off. Once I am moving though, I can press the accelerator all the way down and everything works fine - it kicks into passing gear and no slippage is felt. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening?
It sounds like the Solenoid/Pressure switch assembly isn't sending enough hydraulic fluid to the gears and that is causing the car to feel like it is slipping when you first put it in gear.

I have not had it into a shop yet - I want to go in armed with at least a little knowledge when they tell me it will cost me $2000 for a new tranny. I can say that no check engine light or any other light has come on.
Secondly, this phenomena happens when I come to a stop (red light) hold the break with the vehicle in gear and then start to accelerate. I also have to say that if I take my foot off the brake when it is in gear and do not touch the accelerator, the vehicle does start to creap on it's own, and again, if I lightly press the accelerator it works fine but if I "punch" it many times it will feel like it is slipping before it bangs into gear.

I've had the truck since new (60,000 mi) and yes, I did have a tranny service done recently - the bottom pan gasket was leaking so the shop did a service since they had to drop the pan to replace the gasket.
They might have not put the filter inside the trans on properly, or it might have broken after the service... Bring it right back to them and have them check their work... you shouldn't be paying for something that wasn't there before you brought it to them.

Yea have them check the filters at one time there were faulty ones out there and also the gasket has to be put into place before the filter is put on. Also ask if they just did a pan drop and refill or flush if the did a flush the could've damaged the check valve in the cooler return line (learned that one the hard way) to check the line once you take it off you should not be able to blow thru it
