Question 2x4 2003 ram 1500 hemi ball joint replacement

I never see a solid answer on how to replace both the upper and lower ball joints. Also, why do garages charge sooo much, I had 2 estimates and both were over $900.00. Yet I check the prices for the joints and for both sides it is less than $250.
How difficult is the job?

I see hour estimates of 2.5 hours for lower and 1.6 for upper but replacing the upper arm should not take much more time that just doing the lower ball joints. You can have them break down the estimate into hours and parts but I would guess something in excess of 5 hours for both sides and over $300 for parts.

Book calls for 4.4 hours to do all four. I just ordered two upper arms, two lower ball joints (all Moog) and two Cardone HD CV axles to re-do my truck and for chits and giggles I called local dealer just to see. They were $1185 for parts and labor plus tax.

I had about $335 in parts to the door and plan on doing this in the driveway a week from Sunday...

any chance you're going to do a write up on that hammer? There are a few around, but that would certainly be useful imo. Not sure if there's an "official" one in the DIY or not, i haven't checked recently.
