When exactly does it drop down that low? (Braking, accelerating, turning)

Mine does too. Drops to around 100 at idle. Been doing that about a year. I'm pretty sure it requires replacing the cluster. I'm not interested in spending $800 for that. Tach works fine otherwise. It's just at idle.

Yup, its the cluster.

It seems to be only an 06 thing. I've tried removing my cluster and re-flowing some solder as others have suggested but it didn't fix it for very long.

It help when sitting at a red light, it so when i start braking and coming to a red light it will go to normal idle and then a few seconds later while im still at the red light, it will drop to 400rpm and then go to 100rpm until obviously it turns green and I start moving again, then its all back to normal

Just the tach or the actual rpm of the engine?

so what does it matter then? I wouldn't concern myself if it isn't affecting the performance of the truck.

It is either the cluster or PCM in that case I would think. I would guess cluster.
