Ok my truck has has some electrical problems lately just after installing a big audio sysytem! Here is the first problem with my key out I can't unlock my doors and to lock my doors nothing happens at all, 2nd problem the interior lights don't come on when I open the door! But when I put my key in the ignition and turn the truck on my lights come on 3rd problem I can only work the windows from the driver side door none of the other switches work I need to know where would be a good place to look I've already ran down all the fuses and everything looks good! The stereo and amps have all been disconnected so there's no problem there anybody have any ideas?

What did you install? and how did you run the wiring?

How many Amps?

Sounds like you may have burnt up some wiring, and the first place I would start is the stereo harness and trace all of those wires back to make sure you didn't melt anything and short it.

If you have a capacitor in the system you may have back-fed power to the battery causing damage to some of your electronics in the truck.

Well I have 2 amps one for the door speakers and one for the subs! The amp for the door speakers is a 1200 watt and the sub amp is a 1500 watt I ran the stereo though an aftermarket wiring harness and only tapped in to the remote wire for the amps! The two amps run power from the battery and both are grounded to the frame! I have one farad capacitor it's a 3.5! Everything was working fine but now nothing!

I'm having the same problems. All I did was install a jensen flip out screen lost constsnt power to it. I cant lock or unlock my doors or turn dome and headlights on with the key out. When I turn the key forward a red light blinks on the cluster that I never noticed before then everything works fine. My truck is an 04 1500 single cab hemi. It also has a aftermarket alarm that was on it whwn I bought it and the security light on it is constsntly on so I just pulled the main fuse on it to disable it and still havibg problems. Someone help us out.

Did you hardwire the headunit in? (meaning did you cut off the old harness and wire everything manually?)

If so, That is why everything is not working I bet.

You need the Databus connector buy the CHTO-02 wiring harness adapter from Best Buy (it's Metra Brand Name), they have another one but I can't remember the brand name.

That connector might be the problem.

Did you have the infinity sound system in your truck from the factory?

And lastly did you reuse the OEM wiring to the speakers? (if so, change that out ASAP as that wiring is not big enough for that kind of power.)

Ok well I seen a lot of people have the same problem I have even the red light that wasn't there berfore as well! I have checked all fuses and had the wires checked at a mechanic! My only next choice is to look to the steering column and if not there then I'm stumped! If anbody has had better luck then me let me know what you got and I will continue to share what I have found out or if I fix the problem with the steering column change out!

Did you read what I wrote?

If so let me know if you purchased the correct wiring harness or not.

Also if you have the Infinity Sound system and you installed an aftermarket Amplifier, then you have to use the "Amp Bypass" wiring harness (or just manually bypass it yourself).

If you used the "Amp Integration" wiring harness then you just doubled up on amplifiers and they will start to short each other out and have a whole bunch of other issues.

Now if you wired up the Stereo without the Can-Bus adapter I mentioned then you may have problems with the windows, door locks and radio, as the R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) is not there.

You have to run a wire to an ignition power source with that harness if I remember correctly.

The infinity system can be a real pain.

Ok well here's an update on my truck I found out that the fuse 51 the wiring was bad and the fuses kept popping due to this! It's the cluster radio and under hood lamp fuse check this first as it controls the intererior lights and the acc radio wire that's the yellow wires on the back of the radio! The one thing I have learned is if your gonna hook up a system in your dodge upgrade your alternator first! These trucks were built for pulling not for power my amp caused my electrical system to go hay wire and the dodge dealer said if I want to bass then I need to upgrade! If you just hook up a stereo make sure you get the right harness and not all stereo stores know what there talking about always make sure and double check!
