I want to swap the 4.7 out of my 04 dodge 1500 to a hemi but can I use my stock wiring harness and transmissionand is there any thing else I will need to change

Here is his answer to your question: The harness for the HEMI is completely different. All your modules would need to be changed. It would depend on the transmission in your 1500 what would bolt up to the HEMI. Do you have a nag1 or a 45rfe? These will bolt to a HEMI but a 42re won't. I hope this helps. A 5.7 has been run with a custom tune on a 4.7 PCM before. It would be better to get the harnesses and modules from a hemi, including the electronic pedal.

 

If you have access to a donor vehicle then I would say go for it and grab all the harnesses, modules, mounts etc etc you can. If you just have a hemi motor laying on a skid, I'd say don't bother reinventing the wheel. like many motor swaps it's the small parts which kill you. you can rack up a huge bill as you dribble back and forward to the dealership/junkyard trying to get the stuff you need, let alone the big stuff like tranny.

 

Same trans for 4.7 and hemi.

 

Think Im gonna pass on doing 4.7 to 5.7 swap. cant do it myself, from what ive read on threads more of a headache. I'll just replace my broken 4.7 for another one. Sure would have like a hemi though

 

Get your 4.7 back up (there are speed parts for it), then maybe trade it in on a newer hemi down the road.

 

Trade in not an option, cant afford a truck payment. Plus its a 5 speed, main reason I bought truck used. Gonna tear it down and see what damage is done. Loud clanking or clanging noise when I try to start, been having problems with #2 cylinder intermittent misfire, now I think something is broken

 

I have a 2003 4.7 5speed looking to get more performance and horsepower, wld like to know what kind of parts i cld get to help with this
