Default A/C issue

We have an 05 2500 diesel with a dead a/c. The 10 amp fuse pops when the unit is switched on. Previously I found a bad connection at the clutch plug, once that was addressed the unit worked flawlessly all summer. Now it is acting up again.
Today I had it checked by an independent shop, he figures the clutch is pooched. Can it be replaced without the pump?

Hi yes the compressor clutch can be replaced without replacing the compressor. I would make sure there is not a short to ground on the wire going to the compressor before you have the clutch replaced.

it can be replaced, yes, but in most applications it costs more than replacing the compressor itself due to the labor. Better to just replace the whole unit.

The A/C clutchs are notorious for burning up on the cummins. It can be replaced or bypassed.
