Default 5 or 8 lug

I am getting ready to purchase a 2007 Dodge Ram Larimie SLT 4 x 4 MegaCab and the plastic caps on the wheels show 8 lugs the dealer is telling me that it should be 8 lug but I thought 1500 was a 1/2ton not a 3/4 ton.

Any advise

Take off one of the caps, and have a look. 1/2 ton should be five lug.

almost positive that megacabs are only made in 3/4 ton and 1 ton setups

MegaCabs were 3/4 the entire way. The 1500's were just labeled as such.

The Mega Cab 1500 came with a D60 front and I think a D70 rear. It was something that Dodge did on the 1/2ton rigs. As far as I know it was only the Mega Cab that they did this on. So I'm betting that the dealer is correct that it has 8 lug wheels. The only issue I know of with the 1500 is that it only comes with the Hemi and no diesel.

Should this be moved to the 3rd gen Ram section?

If it's a Mega Cab regardless of of configuration it has 8 lug wheels. The 1500 version is labeled as such because it only comes with the Hemi and it still has 1500 leaf springs which makes its towing/hauling capacity lower. Everything else is 3/4 ton

I would never buy a hemi mega cab, as much as I love the hemi, it will eat your house for flue and shake apart your resolve for owning a dodge with a soild axle front suspension..

1500 mega cabs are identical frame and suspension wise to a 2500, CTD have larger axles and would be my chioce over the hemi for towing and mpg.

Check out a 4rth gen Ram 1500 crew cab, its a better truck to live with than a hemi mega cab falling apart some where in the last 3rd gen model run..
