Trans Swap
The 45RFE and 545RFE are damn good transmissions by current standards. The only thing that makes them bad is the prices for parts are insane because Dodge is just more expensive.
You might be thinking of the 46RE of the 2nd gen Rams, those aren't known for stellar reliability.

You both are right, I guess I wasn't thinking about the 4L being a 4 speed and I read that the early 3rd gens had a lot of tranny problems. Mine being an 05, i would think that they would have worked out most of the bugs by then. Looks like I'll start looking at parts to beef up my trans.
The RFE's are great UNTIL you start operating outside the factory parameters. More power, especially in decent amounts they don't seem to like unless you get an overbuilt one (ATS, Sharadon) and even then there have been some horror stories.

You'll be fine.
No he's right, there have been a few horror stories on here and other places about trannies that crapped out early or multiple times. The flat out biggest complaint is how much power they suck up before the wheels.
