Default A/C issue

I just bought a 2003 4.7 standard cab and the A/C blows cold and feels great, but only when its on high. If its on anything but high it does not blow at all. I;m thinking electrical problem behind the controls, any other ideas of what it could be?

Blower resistor is blown:

That guy.

My dad's had the same problem, junk got onto the heatsink and made it over heat and bust the solder point on it. I cleaned it up (as well as the HVAC box) and resoldered the point, then put it back in.

So what do I have to do in order to replace this part? Where is it located?

Under the passenger side of the dash, you will see two plugs: one goes to the blower, the other to a little rectangular thing up in the HVAC box. That plugs into the blower resistor. Unplug it, take out the two screws and remove the resistor. There will likely be a rain of crap from the HVAC box. If there is, shop vac as much of the crap out as possible and scrape it out with your hand (it's nasty, but necessary to clean it out). You might be able to repair the resistor if the solder point is broken where the little bar goes across the three pin things between the heatsink block and the base. If that's the case, just solder it back on. If that's not it, buy a new resistor.

I did a bunch of research on this when my dad's blew, and your symptoms are the EXACT same as all that I've found previously.

Blowing only out the defroster and floor vents on acceleration or just all the time?
Only on acceleration is "wild vents", all the time is a broken blend door in the HVAC box.

I suggest you to start a new thread.

That depends on how badly the blend door is fubar'd. Sometimes it needs a little cam to be replaced, other times the entire door is fubar, won't know without actually taking it apart/doing more looking.

And if the HVAC system is the same between the two, I don't see why not. But don't quote me on it.

Rhino405.
Go to this web site.
http://www.heatertreater.net/?gclid=CMuK67q34LcCFYTJtAodhggA3w

On that site, put in your make and model and there are videos to both diagnose and repair all the Dodge AC and heater doors. With links to parts to buy from them to do it.
Hope this helps?
Al.
