Default Electrical Mayhem...

Base model 02 Dodge Ram 4.7liter 2wd. Crank your own windows and lock your own doors. Headlights flicker off and on, horn blows, windshield wipers come on and off, and washer fluid sprays every so often. All this happens while driving or idling, together or separate. Removed dimmer switch (figuring most was in that switch) and still happened. Checked who knows how many ground connections (under hood and dash) and all good. Was thinking it could be the FCM but have my doubts. Heard of PDM (fuse panel) corrosion could possibly cause all this. No mods or fancy gismos installed on truck. This is my disabled dads everyday mover so nothing other than bone stock. Seeking any help I can get on this. Thanks

sounds like the BCM is either not getting the proper voltage, or has flown south...

It does sound suspiciously like a PDC problem, since when that happens, it can cause a voltage drop to the BCM, which can cause some crazy **** to happen. Ive seen several cases where the battery was near dead and the BCM started playing with the locks and wipers and lights. Everything you described is a function controlled by the BCM.

check for corrosion at the battery terminals, and at the PDC.

Checked and cleaned battery cables and no visible corrosion on PDM. Is the BCM the same thing as an FCM? And is there any way I can test this before purchase of a new module cause both parts are pricy and I know most places if any will not take returnes on electronics. Is there another way to maybe run another external ground to the PDM? Thanks

the PDM doesnt need a ground, they get corroded on the bottom where you cant see.

Ive never heard a BCM called an FCM. BCM is body control module, PDC is power distribution center.

FCM is the front control module, mine had similar issues, bought new on eBay for $270 with shipping. All is good now.
