How to make my 4.7 faster
#14
Get a HEMI blah blah blah... Some ain't fortunate enough to get one. My previous ram was a 4.7 and tell you what, everyone talks about how **** they are compared to a HEMI, but it was one pretty fast truck. Granted, it was a single cab and crew cabs are probably dogs. I personally am not interested in crew cabs so I wouldn't know about all that.
That being said! A 4.7l is just a "truck". It has plenty of power and oomph but it is just a truck. I wouldn't personally mod it for speed. A HEMI, however, truly goes into a muscle car/truck category.
^ useless comment. (I don't care)

So if you've got a single cab short bed (aka Ram shorty) and you mod it a bit, it could probably take on most Hemis on the street.

I'm with you on the 4.7 being able to hold it's own. My dad owns an 02 Quad Cab with a 4.7 and it goes better than the 3.7. My friend owns an 02 single cab and that truck goes like stink.
So if you've got a single cab short bed (aka Ram shorty) and you mod it a bit, it could probably take on most other 4.7 and 3.7 trucks on the street.

who knows, with a fully modded 4.7, you could maybe, just maybe beat a bone stock 3500 dually megacab Hemi with factory 3.73s. While it is towing something. and has a full payload. and is chained to a Chevy, pulling that behind it. and is running 87 octane. with a misfire.
now the 4.7 owners are gonna chime in

Yeah, let's not exaggerate... My bone stock 4.7 definitely held its own. And there's no reason for me to talk it up because I now have owned both. There IS a difference, but it is not THAT huge for day to day driving. The 4.7 just needs to move into higher rpms, give it some gas and at 3500 it will fly. The 5.7 seems more evenly spread. The only thing I heard from a bunch of mechanics who knew a great deal about mopars was that the 5.7 is a much better motor by design. Not talking about power here. Anyway. Lets return this thread to its owner and discussion about what can be done a 4.7 to make it faster.
