Default 2002 Ram 1500 help! dying 4.7L

Went to start the truck this morning and it wouldnt stay running. This has happened before about 6 months ago and with letting it run a while with my foot on the gas cleared up and hasn't done it until this morning. Could this be a fuel filter? That's probably the cheaper part to replace and see if that's the issue. All suggestions are welcomed.

Do you have a check engine light? if the truck wont stay running long enough for you to see one, then you can just try to pull the DTCs by doing the key trick. (click the link in my signature for a how-to)

Post whatever codes you are getting up here.

If you turn the A/C on does the truck stay running? (if so, does it idle rough?)

My best guess is that you may have a throttle body position sensor problem, OR you might just need to clean your throttle body. You'll need to get at the intake side of the throttle body and spray it with throttle body cleaner.

If you can post up any more details please do.

So I went to the auto parts store and talked with them and found out that the fuel filter is in the tank as a one piece unit with the pump $180 roughly. So, just for the heck of it I bought Lucas tune-up in a bottle and put it in my truck. I ran it for 20 minutes. Took it over my friends house to check the codes and found none. Now 2 days later its running like new.

Clean your Throttle Body... if there is ALOT of oil on the throttle plate then you might need a new PCV valve(s). (can't remember if there are one or two...)

Either way glad you're problem is "solved" I guess....?

More than likely you did not fix it with that. Its probably the TPS sensor crapping out and sometimes it works sometimes not.

Same thing could also be happening with the fuel pump. Either way I guarantee fuel additive didn't fix it for realz
