Default Exhust Question

Ok, new to the Ram truck. I just purchased a 2007 Ram 1500. So far so good. I have owned GM products for years. Any way, so today was my first day at the fire station so i pulled it in to check out the exhaust to see what I can do to free it up and maybe squeeze another mpg or 2 out of it. Holy crap. So it goes from manifolds into two cats then y's into one 3" into a resonator (or pre muffler) then into a huge muffler then into another muffler before it exits? How much of this **** can I get rid of after the cats and still stay legal?

All of it.

Just be aware that most of your restriction is in the y-pipe. Going with an off road y-pipe and highflow cats will free up a fair amount of power. Then go with any muffler besides Chokemaster (Flowmaster) and you'll be good to go.

Oh yeah, Welcome to DF, btw.

Welcome. The cats are pretty good. The y pipe you can get thru Summit $28 I believe. And just start pickin what type of exhaust you want. One thing I would suggest is go stainless. Cost more but worth it. Or just cut the resonators off and replace the muffler with an after market direct fit.

Get rid of all of it starting at the manifolds. Every piece on there can be upgraded easily.

true duals.. remove the factory y pipe, may have to retap right o2 sensor, remove rear resonator.. run 2 ex pipes pour before the rear right tire, or straight out the right rear, mandrel bent pipes, are a must, bent and crimped pipes choke of ex flow...

I'm a live owner of cherry bomb glass packs, on my hemi 2500.

Magnaflow #16700 will free it up quite well.
