Ok so I pulled my oil pan today because I have been having problems trying to get it to seal and I am in the process of replacing the gasket. Well with that problem aside I was looking up at my crank and noticed there was a rough edge and was wondering if anybody had any clue as to what would cause that.

The pics were taken as if you are laying flat on your back looking up at the bottom of the block. This is more towards the back of the block then the front.

 

Honestly, from the photo, it looks like a factory grind area where there may have been some casting flash--or something along those lines. If it isn't peaned over like its been hitting something, and if it was you definitely hear it, I wouldn't worry about it.

If that had happened after manufacturing while driving the truck you would have known it. Looks like factory work to me.

 

How many miles are on that truck? and what kind of oil have you been running...synthetic or conventional ? just wondering... looks good to me though..
