Default Computer problems

My 03 Dodge Ram is having some engine problems. My rev limiter starts at 35000 rpm insted of 50000 rpm. The cruise control won't turn on and the engine light just turned on. Also when it is warm it has a hard time starting up plus some times it will stall on me, but only once after I start the engine. I did ad a Jet computer chip awhile ago. I plan on taking it i th the dealier, but before I do, does any one know what this could be? Has any one had this problem? Also how much did it cost to repair?

wow 35,000 rpms ??? but really if it has a check engine light on just check in you erea to see if on of the shops will do a free scan or just buy a code reader at the parts store check the code stored in the system and it should give you an idea where to star.

I agree with thump186, find out why your check engine light is on. Some auto parts stores will scan it for free, Autozone does it down here.

You may want to take out the Jet chip also to see if that has anything to do with it.

How many miles do you have on your truck?

I think you just diagnosed the problem yourself right there. The Jets are sometimes known for this wacky tacky behavior but most often when you put the wrong chip in! Are you sure you put the right chip in for your make and engine. Did you get the slight mod or performance mod chip? If the performance mod did you make the other changes Jet says you must make right in their chip doc?

I wouldn't take it to the dealer unless it was under warranty and if so I would pull the Jet chip out first if it was under warranty to avoid any hassles. Just take it to a local guy with the proper scanner first.

I agree with the above. Sounds like your computer, and the dealer will wash his hands with the aftermarket chip in. Autozone will do scans N/C (they want to sell the parts to fix it). See what that shows. I agree to pull the chip first if you do take it in.

Pull the chip and then disconnect the negative battery terminal....hit the brakes a few times to drain any residual charge and then reconnect the neg cable. See if that helps

Open truck door, put key in ignition don't start it. The turn key on off on pretty quickly and your trouble coeds will show up in the odometer section....then check them against this http://www.allpar.com/fix/computer-codes.html

Thanks everyone for your help. I pulled the chip and made a call to JET to see if it voids my warranty. They told me that any performance upgrade that is legal will not void the warranty. I have the web site with the laws that back this up www.sema.org. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong for telling me that it might void my warranty, but I just found this out and thought it might save someone else in the future.
I checked the code and it gave me P0344 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent. I'm not sure where the sensor is besides by the cam shaft. If anyone has any ideas please pass it along, meanwile I'll be looking for the sensor.
