slight clunky feel
Steve is there a way to tell? Like if I pull the hub off?
The easiest way is to check with the wheel on because it gives you more leverage to push against the bearing. Do you have tire wear problems yet?
Anyway, like it or not, you have a bad wheel bearing since you can tilt your wheel back and forth. It is going to start making awful cash register noises soon enough. I don't know how likely it is for a 4wd front wheel to fall off because there is the axle but if it was a 2wd I wouldn't drive it around any more.

Totally agree, if the bearing is moving---HAS to be replaced.

look for a sandwiched, worn, and overcompressed upper and lower bushing on the upper side of the end link. You may be able to get a few more turns of the nut and see if you can just sandwich them together hard enough to stop the noise, but if they are worn out the noise will just come back. Very cheap part.
Its a bit hard to test for, but I had replaced my balljoints, tie rods, and UCAs, and there was still a small clunk while turning or going over uneven pavement. So I went under the truck, and while "bouncing" the truck up and down with one arm I used my other hand to feel the various suspension components for the source of the clunking (which you could hear if I bounced the truck hard enough)...wouldve been much easier with someone else to hop on the front bumper to get enough bounce to replicate the noise.
Anyway I could actually feel the clunk when I put my hand on the end link...felt almost like when a knee or shoulder pops or cracks when you bend it. Either way it was the only part left to replace, and ironically probably the cheapest and easiest one as well.
Again, its a long shot, and looks like you do have a wheel bearing that is starting to fail, but I have never experienced a wheel bearing that caused a "clunk" only grinding and whining noises.
