I think its about 8 hours labor just for one side. Have you determined which gasket it is leaking from. It could turn into a head replacement if the head is not flat. I don't have the 4.7 but I think there are many here that would not want to just replace one side but if you have to replace both sides you are talking about half the cost of a full engine rebuild.

$1500-$2000 I'd imagine.

If you have a capable buddy and tools you can get away doing it yourself for around $600, assuming the heads aren't trashed.

Edit - And have the timing chain and tensioners replaced while it's in the shop.

I see re-manufactured 4.7 engines for around 2500. With R&R of the engine you be at $3500-4000 on installing a reman engine. Have you checked compression? If the leak is not bad and not causing the temp to go crazy you might just want to live with it.

just had the heads redone on my 4.7... cost 430.00 for the pair, then 128.00 for the lifters, another 600.00 for the oil pump, gaskets and timing set, and 1200.00 for the removal unassembly of engine, reassemble of engine and reinstallation so total was 2358.00

thats not a bad price how long did it take them to fix it?dang dodge should have a recall on these 4.7's.i could get a good deal on another 1500 but its got a 4.7 in it and i dont trust it im guessing every 4.7 blows the head gasket.
