It sounds like a pretty badass project. I'd love to have a 3rd gen v10 just because. I wanna see some pics of the rest of the truck when you get a chance.
Grrrr.... I still haven't gotten my block back yet. We've gotten a little ice here in Eastern North Carolina and they take off for two days!! I'm getting angry!! Maybe tomorrow?!?
Okay, I got the block back late Monday. Went to install the crankshaft, but the thrust bearing kept locking it up. It turns out something dropped or fell on it and bent it. I ordered a new set, they should be here tomorrow. The rod bearings look fine, save a slight nick in one of them.

If the rod bearings aren't new, replace them. Don't reuse bearings.
Are you kidding?? Reuse rod bearings???? This story will come to a tragic end if you do something like that!!! Why would you put so much time and money, and not replace everything?? I hope you don't say you're going to reuse the rings!!!!
No, I mean the new rod bearings were shipped with the new mains. I was worried about damage to the rod bearings. I checked the new bearings for flaws and saw none, the clearances are all .002". The only flaw is a small nick in one corner, but it seems tolerable.
