Well, like I always say, I'm crazy, but I'm not stupid! For some reason they sent the new bearings in the same box as the new crankshaft. I believe the crank slammed the main bearings.

Okay, NEW new mains came in. I checked the clearances and they were all .002" which is awesome. Last night I got the crank, pistons, cam and timing cover installed. I quit at 2:30 in the morning. (For future reference, going to bed at 2:30 and getting up at 6:00 makes for a long workday.) However, most of tonight was spent removing metal shards from the cooling system, I found them getting ready for the cylinder heads. I have pictures, but they're on my phone, I need to upload them. Stay tuned!!

Okay, the motor has been built. I started it up Saturday night, but didn't run it long because the block heater was leaking profusely. I fixed the leak and tried to re-start it last night, but it would not crank. After crying a little, I checked the engine codes and found a cam sensor code. I did not understand at the time how to set it and placed it at the same depth that it was, but the cam gear snapped it. DARN IT!!! So I pulled the oil pan and removed the shards inside. The new sensor will be here in the morning. Also, my rims are installed. I still have pictures, but I have no way to get them off my phone right now.

Wow, what a day. I dropped the oil pan and removed the sensor pieces. Replaced it and the sensor and it fired right up. Next was the rear end. It had not moved in so long that the park brakes had seized stuck. I rocked it and broke the driver side loose, and then had to get dragged about 1/4 mile backwards to asphalt because the passenger side was still seized. I finally broke it loose and drove it home. I plan on letting it rest, and tomorrow driving it around the loop to ease the brakes back in. But it lives! IT LIVES!!!!

Alright, here's an update. I took it to work yesterday, and the truck ran great. But I noticed an oil leak. It seems to be coming from the harmonic balancer seal. So I removed the balancer, and bought a repair sleeve and a new seal. Hope this works!!

Update: I took the truck to work today. It performed marvelously. MPG's at first start were 6 mpg which scared the crud out of me. 130 miles later, that has become 11 mpg's. The truck seems slower than I expected, but the torque levels are the selling part of this engine. I have 370 miles on the first oil change left, and am having trouble keeping my foot off the skinny pedal! I am still seeking a way to get pictures off of my not-smart phone (dubbed the dumb phone) but every dime I have has gone into this big rig. I have to count change for lunch! However, you should have seen how may people wanted me to pop the hood at work!!!
