Not all 4.7s blow the head gasket, only 4.7's that arent cared for by the owned and are allowed to overheat. Hell, I blew my radiator at the start of a drag race, kept on the gas until about 80 and shut it off after I came to a stop. No signs of a blown head gasket.

Recalls are only for safety issues. Any safety issue has to have involved hundreds if not thousands of complaints at the least. A blown head gasket does not constitute a safety issue. Yes, the design comes into play, and things could have been engineered better. But, no, unless a part of the engine is susceptible to end up tearing up the lower half of your body, there will be no recall!!!!

This isnt an issue though, the only problem is people who cant take care of their vehicles. If you blow a head gasket the engine overheated, its that simple.

"Hey guys my piece of **** 4.7 just spun a bearing and blew the head gasket. What, oil change? Yeah I change that every 50,000 miles. A radiator hose started leaking so I duct taped it shut and filled the truck from my garden hose. I can't believe the engine is trashed, dodge SUCKS!"

so, a band-ade fix ment to last 1 hour max.. and you kept using it like that.

you got what you asked for.

a hose is what 15 dollars... and 10 minutes work.

and I hope when you said 50,000 that antifreeze.. NOT OIL.

that does suck I decided to sell my truck it had so many problems I sold it yesterday the price to fix everything was more than the truck was worth i guess the guy who bought it has another engine hes going to put in.if i buy another dodge ram it sure wont be a 4.7 .funny thing is a guy down the street from me is selling a nice 02 1500 4x4 with a 4.7 but its a manual stick shift i really dont want a stick or a 4.7 again cause of fear of head gasket issues again.so I may go check out a 5.7 hemi or a ford lol.

You guys should really be looking up North of Dodge Ram 1500 parts. They sold a lot of them here and the 4th gens are already rotting out so they are cheap. You can get a complete running 3rd gen 4x4 1500 here for 2 grand but the box will look like it came off of a 1980's Toyota.
A lot of the US re-manufacturers use Canadian junk yards for good low mileage cores because our vehicles don't last more than 10 years on average. Our average would be a lot better if people would stop buying North American and Korean branded vehicles...
