Radio Power Without Key
Ever since I bought my truck, the aftermarket radio turns off when I remove the key from the ignition. My 2006 Charger stays on for X amount of time so I wasn't sure if I could do something so my truck does the same
Actually, since you have the canbus communication bus, you may be able to. It would have to be turned on with a starscan tool at a dealer. I'm not absolutely sure it can be done, but I have heard of it. Best thing to do is call up a dealer or two and ask a tech that is well educated on the starscan tool if it is possible----Good Luck!
Whoever installed the aftermarket radio in your truck did not use the Databus Interface harness, which is why it turns off as soon as you turn the truck off...
You need something like this:

You can get a similar interface at a local Best Buy that has an Install Bay..... good luck.

I have a 2006 Mega Cab, and my stock radio shuts off when the truck shuts off. His aftermarket radio should do the same.

I know in my 2008, the Radio will stay on when I turn my truck off until I open a door, or 10 minutes elapses...
Any vehicle with the CANBUS and TIPM should have the same setup.
I am 99% Sure that he is not retaining power when the key is removed because whoever installed the radio did not use the Databus Adapter when they installed the radio that he has in there now.
I've seen it a million times where customers of mine would come in wanting a cheaper install and then they'd come back a week later telling me there was a problem, then I'd show them the work order where I wrote that the customer did not want the suggested interface and I'd list the features that would no longer function properly.
GM's were the worst b/c that damn databus is hooked into everything.... (in some vehicles the On-Star voice wouldn't go through).... A real pain in the butt that was let me tell you.
I'm 99% sure (without looking at it myself) that, that is what the issue is.

Check your owners manual.... As far as I remember nearly all of the newer Dodge trucks I've ever installed radios on with a Databus would stay on once turned off, and would stay on until a door was opened.
