Default 3.7ltr Ram

Hi, just want a bit of advise, I am looking at an advert for a 2002 Reg cab 3.7ltr 1500 Ram.
Could you tell me the realistic MPG for motorway driving. The Ram has a LPG conversion, which will halve the fuel costs £0.70 versus £1.35 per liter . Is there any strange querks the 3.7lr version has over the larger V8's? Thanks.......

Well it's hard to tell what the MPG would be with the conversion but realistically the V6 got about the same as the V8s, just a tick higher probably. The only strange quirk I know of is that someone decided to put a 210 hp engine in an almost 5000 lb truck. What do you plan on using the truck for?

If you want to check on fuel economy in real life then click on the link to Fuelly in my signature, and browse around for a V6 Dodge Ram... you won't be impressed.

wow thats quick.

I have had a Cummins diesel 2500 Ram manual, but got less gas mileage than my Durango, so i wont be going there again in a hurry.
This Ram is cheap, and in very good condition inside and out, only done 80K has a 200 ltr LPG tank, and i'm not to bothered by the performance, will just haul a few building materials occasionally, mainly just doing the shopping runs. Really need car with good ground clearance

a V8 of the same year here in the UK will be almost twice the price, so I also have to think of that

LPG.....? You run your truck on Low Pressure Gas? (like Natural Gas...?) that would explain why you get bad fuel economy...

Buy what suits your needs....

I have a V6 with manual transmission and 3.55 gears..

I get 17 city and 24 highway... I lowered the truck 2 inches in front and 4 inches in the rear.. it did improve the gas mileage.. heavy duty shocks. and larger sway bars.

I am not about going Fast. I like corners... I got the truck New..

Liquefied Petroleum Gas, or LP, or Propane, or Butane.

LPG/LP/Propane/Butane has an energy content of 50.3 megajoules per kilogram, or 13.2 megajoules per gallon of LP.

Gasoline contains 130 megajoules per gallon, or roughly 9.8 times the energy density of LP.

LP sounds great because it's cheaper, but the energy it contains is less, therefor it takes more of it to go the same distance as a gasoline powered vehicle. Save your money, get a gas or oil burner.

There are also taxes based on engine displacement in many countries in Europe fyi, this may be a factor in his decision.

City mileage for the V6 is horrible, the same as the v8. On the highway she can eek out 22-23mpg if you keep it to 55-60mph.
