Default Ram 1500 4.7l Timing Problem 2005 Please Help

My truck recently stalled out while driving said Cam and Crank Sensor were bad, I replaced and could not get to start, opened valve cover and found that chain was loose and had eaten into timing chain guides. Took it completely apart yesterday, spun crank until timing was at TDC and verified drivers side cam was aligned properly. Passenger Side however was off at least a few teeth. V8 mark was advanced to about 2-3 oclock.

I took chains off to find out that the passenger side chain had eaten up most of both guides and the cam gear due to a faulty chain with several bad links and missing component on tensioner. I had just replaced this chain 10,000 miles ago.

I already have new chains and tensioners however now I am waiting to see if any local parts stores might have the Cam gear today. If not I will wait till tomorrow and purchase from Dealership.

My question is what to do about passenger cam to allign timing. Do I spin this cam all the way around again, or do I somehow try to spin it counter clockwise back to its position. Also for all i know it might have spun more than a few teeth, hard to say however when i manually spun the crank before removing chains several times i did not feel any resistance and/or hear any noises, so my assumption is it only spun a few teeth.

On another note when I took the valve covers off it had thrown one rocker, I would assume this could mean I have possibly bent that valve. Either way I plan on putting the new chains tensioners and guides as well as a new cam gear, but just need to know which way I should turn the cam to correct timing on the passenger side cam.

You been keeping up on the oil changes? It is possible to be a collapsed follower which let the rocker fall off. It's a known problem.. but with an interference engine and your jumped timing I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

I assume you are referring to the hydraulic lash adjusters. I had actually changed those 10,000 miles ago as well and yes I do my best to keep up with oil changes.

I would go the shortest distance.

OK so spent 12 hours today putting back together and I swore i had the timing right but i think it could be off. It will not stay running. At one point it flooded so bad i unhooked the injectors and it ran smooth for about 2 minutes nice and quite at normal idle until the fuel burnt out, so i'm pretty confident my valves are still good.

Now Im lost tho and am not sure what to do. Could the dealer have possibly given me the wrong Cam sprocket for the passenger side. I believe their are 2 styles?

Or could my new Crank Sensor from Big A Auto parts be faulty? I had another crank sensor from Auto Zone I was going to try however i was having difficulty taking it out so I gave up.

I would just hate to spend 6 hours tearing down again and another 6-8 putting back together if it is not necessary.

I swore I had the timing right however it was difficult to see the 2 marks past the drivers side chain on the intermediate but i was holding it in place the whole time while someone else set the cam sprocket.

We then spun the crank several times and when the timing marks on bottom were aligned properly the V8 markings on the cams were at 12 o clock.

Which from further research I believe is the NGC part which my truck is I believe it has the 4 harness PCM.

Can anyone give me a hand, a friend of mine said it could verywell be bad valves would bad valves cause it to not run at all.

Going to pull apart again tomorrow and verify timing.
