Be careful with the ebay stuff, there are alot of counterfits being sold and it's hit or miss. Just make certain that the seller has been a member for a long time and they have a 100% satisfaction.

If I would have gone straight to the dealer, I would be ahead of the game now.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but I really want to know the outcome.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT. I'm trying to program a key fob so I can unlock all the doors and not have to walk towards the drivers door and use a key then press a button on the door console to unlock all of the doors (I know, 1st word problems). The passenger door does not have a key hole and this truck is equipped with a Remote Key Entry module. I checked and it's on the back of the instrument cluster. I bought a fob from Amazon and I tried using a two way scanner to program the fob but it wont work. I tried taking the truck to a lock smith and they couldnt program it either. They even tried their own fobs. After they told me to check the fuse.... There is no fuse for the RKE. I bought another module which is a bit different from the one I had. The one I had on the truck with the two characters being AC and the one I bought is AB. Still cannot program the key fob. What am I doing wrong?

2003 Dodge Ram

ATTENTION:You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you.

Click here to find a Locksmith in your area to program this remote.
1. Enter your vehicle and close all doors.

2. Fasten your seat belt ( fastening the seat belt will cancel any chiming that may
confuse you during this programming procedure.)

3. Place key into the ignition.

4. Turn the ignition to the ON position ( DO NOT START THE ENGINE )

5. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on a working remote.

6. Continue to hold the UNLOCK button, wait at least 4 seconds, but no longer than
10 seconds, then press and hold PANIC button.

7. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons. The chime indicates the system
is in program mode.

8. Press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, simultaneoulsly on the remote
to be programmed.

9. A single chime will be heard. The chime indicates the the remote was recognized.

10. Within 4 seconds of hearing the chime, press and release any button on the remote
being programmed.

11. A single chime will be heard The chime indicates the remote has been programmed.

12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 for a total of 4 remotes.

13. Turn the ignition to the OFF position or wait 60 seconds to exit program mode.

I really hope you read my entire post before posting this reply. I'm tying to program the remote so I can do these sort of things. Locksmith couldn't get it programmed and I'm not willing to try the stealership.

Last two letters of the part number are just the Revision of that particular part. AC would be the latest.

Since you don't have a working FOB, and your scanner won't program the one you bought, and the locksmith couldn't program them either, the dealership is the last option you have left.

STANDARD PROCEDURE - RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMING

New Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters can be programed using the DRB III® scan tool and the proper Diagnostic Procedures manual. The DRB III® scan tool can provide confirmation that the PCI data bus is functional, and that all of the electronic modules are sending and receiving the proper messages on the PCI data bus.

The following procedure can be used as long as one programmed transmitter is available:

NOTE: When entering program mode using that programmed fob, ALL currently programmed fobs will be erased and they will have to be reprogrammed for the vehicle. If program mode is entered and no action is performed, the previously programmed fobs will continue to function.
  1. Enter the vehicle and close all doors.
  2. Fasten the seat belt (this will cancel the seat belt chime). Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  3. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on a programmed transmitter for 4 to 10 seconds. Within the 4 to 10 seconds with the UNLOCK button still depressed, press the PANIC button for one second. When a single chime is heard, release both buttons. The chime indicates the system is in program mode.
  4. Press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on a fob to be programmed. A single chime will be heard, this indicates the fob has been recognized.
  5. Press and release any button on the same fob. A single chime will be heard, this indicates the fob has been programmed.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for up to a total of 4 fobs.
  7. Turn the ignition OFF.
  8. Turn the ignition ON or wait 60 seconds. The vehicle will remain in program mode for up to 60 seconds from when the original chime (step 3) was heard. After 60 seconds, all programmed transmitters will function normally.
can you get to program mode without DRBIII ?

Default FOB Programming

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. I wish to add new fobs (RKEs). However, I can not get the vehicle into programming mode. In use the procedure below but I do not get a chime with the original fob. I
