idle goes up and down and truck wont stay running

Question idle goes up and down and truck wont stay running

tonight my truck idle went up and down and the lights would dim and then the truck would die and the truck would not stay running.what could be the cause of this cause now I cant drive my truck.yesterday I had a check engine light on for the front 02 sensor but its brand new and so is the rear 02 sensor.then today the check engine light was on then went back off now its doing this.anyone?

when was your last tune up? Throttle body cleaning. Start with simple stuff.

Have you checked the alternator, battery??

How does it start? Does it fire right up, is it cranking strong? You need to supply more info if you want any kind of decent reply.

Try cleaning the Idle Air Control Valve.. It's located directly under the throttle position sensor. My truck would start and then die right away. I cleaned the valve with some cleaner, and let it sit over night before putting it back on, and my truck has run fine since.

ok the battery is new 2 weeks old alternator had it checked a few days ok was ok not sure now.it starts right up no problem but as soon as it starts the idle jumps up and down and then the truck stalls out.last tune up I don't know I just bought the truck a few weeks back so heck if I know but it looks like the plugs and wires are from 03 so I guess I better change them out.guess I better check the Throttle body ill buy some cleaner and some iac cleaner.didnt do anything today to it its just sitting but maybe sunday thanks guys.

Take that IAC off, it's got one screw holding it on, then put the whole can of cleaner to it. I gave it a couple hours to dry thoroughly, before putting it back on... My truck actually seems to run a little better having cleaned it off. And I was pretty much having the same problem as you...

thanks ill check it out tryng to figure where the Iac is on this truck.once I find it ill clean it and let it dry for a while along with the Throttle body.hope that fixes it cause it was crazy what it was doing.It was so bad I had to call for a tow truck to bring it home.

On my 2004 4.7l 1500, it was right under the tps on the throttle body. I sent you an email. I hope that helps.
