The fact that you say you just changed your oil after 20k may be one of your problems!!! Thats a long time between changes!!! Aside from pointing that out, I have nothing to add.

It was doing this 20k ago, before I put the synthetic in.

Looks like I'm basically screwed and just have to keep driving it until it dies. I just wanted to stop spending $30 daily to drive 20km.

have you had the fuel pressure tested?

other idea is the timing chain.... could be off time by one tooth.. and ready to fail...

my opinion.

No I haven't had the fuel pressure tested, but now that you mention it I suspect that maybe it is a timing issue.

The reason is because I have a tapping noise that I've had since I owned the truck, many people have commented that it's the timing chain slapping on the cover.

If that's the case then it's entirely possible that it has skipped a tooth because I have to drive it at high RPMs to get any power and it only works anywhere near decently at high RPMs, above 3500 usually. On the other hand you can noticeably feel when a cylinder "Wakes up" and starts firing, and it doesn't happen constantly.

I have a scope I can test the injector pulses with to find out if they're working.....if I ever get around to it.

Crap..... I really am screwed, I don't think I can (afford to) fix it, nor is it really worth the money it would potentially cost.

poor or under/low pressure for the fuel rail.... will cause misfires... and all kind of issues... a pressure gauge attacked to the fuel rail.... most service stations can do this for a small charge.... ask around...

maybe just a fuel pump..... stay positive... negative never fixes anything.

Maybe, but there is enough wrong with this truck to justify the negativity, and given the way it works I'm inclined to believe that it is a timing issue.
Although I'd like to try and replacing the injector(s) to see if it fixed the problem I can't throw money away at an unsure thing.

Timing makes sense, but I have injector circuit malfunction codes and am burning gas like a ****. some time ago I got a code for running rich IIRC. So I think if it isn't timing then it's probably bad injectors.

unfortunately injectors are $35/piece in a city 1 hour away.

What other vehicles used the 4.7L in my truck? Maybe someone closer has injectors cheaper if I search for a different vehicle.

I swear this truck is going to blow up soon.

Now it's shifting gears on it's own. I'll be driving and suddenly there is a huge thump, the truck shutters and it's either in a higher or lower gear.

I put the pedal to the floor and NOTHING happens, engine doesn't rev more, tranny doesn't change gears, nothing.

every few mins it'll just "thud" and change a gear to some other one.

I don't know what to do, I'm going to be stuck without a vehicle soon I think.

Looks like she's finally kicking the bucket, I've pretty much lost first gear. I'll have a video up soon, but I've gotten my 0 - 60 time up to about 7.5 ...... minutes.

Short vid of just trying to go down a short road. Foot is to the floor. WOT, it's in drive although the indicator stopped working so it doesn't SHOW what gear it's in.
