Multiple Codes, Injectors?
That's actually the most helpful thing I've read so far.
I had only been able to find results for this happening to minivans and jeeps and the answers varied a lot.
Does anyone know which wire it is and where I could begin to trace it?
This problem happened suddenly in the course of one day, with symptoms showing up at random times in the previous 2 months.
If anyone can help me troubleshoot this, then I may be able to get a little more life out of the dying beast if it's just a wiring problem.

Could be your TCM is bad? That may help explain your crappy shifting, check the fuse for that too and make sure it's not just blown, i believe its one of the square ones, but check your box to be sure. That code p1698 means the pcm is not getting some communication, and looks like a lot of people whose gauges are not working get that code.
Yes I do have the manual, I'll poke through it but I don't really know what I'm looking for exactly.
I don't think the PCM is bad. Today it shuddered a bit and then started working normally.
Something I've noticed is that when this problem happens my shift indicator doesn't work and won't show me which gear I have selected. When it started working today the indicator came back.
So I think this might be a lose wire or connection or something, I just need to find which wire to check for.
It went back to not working again though....so at least I have an idea what it is lol

check the block connector under the dash.. left side (if memory still works).
unplug connector, look for rust, dirt, burnt connectors. also on wire side of connectors (both sides) for a broken wire to a pin connector...

Well, I can't get the block connector apart, the bolt is a bit seized and might be somewhat stripped.
At any rate, I'm not entirely certain that the problem is in that connector at this point.
It basically stopped working altogether since my last posting, and wasn't acting like something loose.
Just today it decided to start acting up again. It started to work normally, shifting fine, indicating the correct gear on the display and responding to the throttle normally.
But it would lurch and thump, and then stop working again.
Does anybody know what items/sensors or wires might cause this problem?
It's obviously not getting a signal from something, but for some reason it happens intermittently (with sometimes being months between the intermittent parts lol)

I have a tough time spending to much time helping, just for the fact that you have had this issue for a long time and even received some suggestions, but it seems you've done very little real, actual work on the truck to figure it out. But anyways here is where I would start:
Check compression, any major engine issues, this is always a good starting point.
For the injector issues do the following (in order):
Check fuel pressure against manufacturer spec
Check injector resistance against manufacturer spec
Check for proper voltage at injector plug (use noid light, or multimeter, but noid light is better).
Notice how all the fuel injector related codes are on one side of the engine. Look for anything obvious that may cause that, damage to wire harness, damage to jumper line between sides, etc. You could try swapping the injectors from one side of the engine to the other to see if the problem follows the injectors or stays on that side.
I would start with the engine issues before digging to far into the transmission. Once you have done all of the above, then come back for help. But most importantly you won't find the answer to your problem on this forum, you'll only find it under the hood of your truck, so you better get out there and start working.

The truck is in such bad shape it's hard to justify doing anything. I'm merely wanting to deal with this P1698 code right now.
But I did check the block connector as best I could, I can't get it apart because the bolt is seized in place and possibly stripped.
I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do about that.
I read the previous postings, and one of the links mentioned that the CCD bus is a single wire that communicates the signal between modules. Ok, excellent.... no one seems to know which wire, so I can't check that nor do I know how to find it.
It's losing a lot of compression, such that I can tell you this without having to even use a gauge, I'm also 95% sure it has a head gasket leak, there have been signs, and the coolant tank smells of exhaust.
About the injector problems, I've checked the wiring and have seen nothing to indicate it's a problem in that section of the harness anyway.
Also, I got the codes mixed up, the 030* codes I listed should be the 020* codes, and vice versa. so the injectors are having problems on both sides, but only one side is misfiring.
I'm just limited in what I can do due to not really having a place to do work like removing the fuel rails, not having any method of transportation while the truck is down and not having the ability to have a shop diagnose the problem because I'm flat broke.
On top of that, I'm fairly certain the trucks only value now is that of scrap metal, I couldn't even sell it for, or as, parts, so I really just wanted to sort out the P1698 to get back it's minimal-but-slightly-better-drivability than it currently has now.
