Talking Lift kit question

I have a 2004 dodge 1500. I have the 20 inch tires on my truck. I am looking in to a lift kit for the truck. Before I lift the truck, how can I raise the front of the truck. I guess I should say its a two wheel drive. I heard I can adjust the torsion bars to raise the front end. I'm looking to put bigger tires on my dodge and finish them off with XD rims. Can you guys give and insight on what I can do to make this happen?

You can raise the torsion bars. The more you tighten them, the rougher the ride. Get some torsion keys. You can get 33's with just the keys.

Thanks a lot bud!!! I think you just saved me a ton of money. I did hear it would be a rougher ride, but I guess Ill just have to wait and see how bad it is going to be.

If I didn't want to tighten the torsion bars. What size lift is a good lift?

I thought 2WD didn't have torsion bars?

If you are getting a lift kit, it should take care of your level. You've already got 33" tires if you have 20" rims, so it's really the backspacing (rubbing) you will need to worry about. With a 2WD, I'm not sure you can fit 35" tires with just a level, as it is not the same stock suspension height that a 4WD has.

Missed the 2wd part. Correct no torsion bars. 4inchs should be good for 33's.

LMAO... Yep, no torsion bars on a 2WD. You can pop a couple of coil spacers and longer shocks in and call it a day. A couple of hours work in the driveway with standard tools plus a spring compressor then off for an alignment and you're done...
