check the transmission fluid level. it could also be a bad transmission ground.. transmission problems can cause your engine to do that as odd as it seems..

The key trick is easy.. with the key in the off position, without cranking it over, turn it on-off-on-off-on and leave it on. The codes will roll thru in the digital odometer. On older trucks, the check engine light would flash a code.. Just write the codes down and a quick google search should give you some insight..

If you get under the truck and look at the back of the motor up top on passenger side.. there is a ground that grounds to your floorboard. Its unshielded wire (no plastic round it). if its not making good ground your engine will do all kinds of crazy stuff like yours is..

What octane fuel are you using. Someone put 87 in my truck, my check engine light came on and the code read misfire in cylinder #5. Got all the crap gas out, filled with 91 and Lucas Oil injector cleaner, and the light went away. No problems since.

p2299 brake pedal position/accelerator pedal position incompatible

Is probably when someones been power braking.
Or have had either foot on the accelerator and brake at the same time.
That code always flags up when you do that.
