Default I too find it hard to swallow

Id would like to think they are not. Its a lot of money... but he says the kit to rebuild the rear end doesn't exsist. But I think he is over pricing... Its a dealership. You think they would risk that?

Motive makes a rebuild kit and a master kit. Runs about $125-150ish. I know because I bought one recently and rebuilt my rear end. $7k sounds like all dealer prices which are already skyjacked.

It depends on the extent of your damage and what all needs to be replaced like gears, differential, axles, housing, ect.

I would either buy a used rear end for several hundred as mentioned above or find another shop to get a quote

dodge may not make the kit anymore, but even then that is steep. Go to a transmission/differential shop and get a quote

Default here's what im not sure about.

Are they quoting me this because im in hawaii. Or because they know the warrenty company (MAY) cover it. Come to find out, the mechanic said the " cap bolts" carrier or retainer cap bolts im not sure if im saying the right part. Whichever part in the rear end that holds all the gears tight, well he took them off withb his finger. So its a labor issue from the previous mechanic that "rebuilt my rear end". And only charged $1033.
