Default 2006 RAM HOLD/UNAVAILABLE

i just received an email from my dealer this morning....i ordered this truck on 7.8.2005

"Daily News shows that DR6 (ram quad cab laramie) w/DH8 (Electronic Shift On Demand) and TTM (17" Tires which are standard on a Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4) are unavailable for an unknown amount of time. According to the plant rep, it may be next year before they can build trucks with this combination. I think the unit may get built if the customer is willing to have DH8 removed from this order. "

it has almost been four months and i am just now finding this out!!! THIS REALLY STINKS

i spoke to the dealer and he said that if i went to the 20" tires he can complete the order. but i don't know how much longer i am going to have to wait!!!

anyone have any info on this!?!!

i told the deler to go with the 20" rims, but i have waited 4 months already.

i wanted the 17" because of fuel efficiency and replacement cost.

How will the 17's increase your fuel efficiency?

I ordered an 06 SLT on 10/15/05. The expected arrival is before Thanksgiving. I thought it was odd, but I could not even select "DH8" as an available option. On Dodge's site you could select it, but not at dealership? I guess I'm glad I didn't put up a fight about it. I would also go with the 20's just to get the truck here. In most cases dealerships will "swap" out things from one vehicle to another. I swapped out radios and rims on my 05. I'm also not sure how much of a savings in fuel or tire replacement you'll end with. I guess it's all personal preference. Good luck to you.

My neighbor works at a Dodge dealer and I'll get an 800 number you can call and track the status.

And, I thought we had trouble when we ordered our '05...

Crazy!

Best of luck!

And, if you have the dealer's order #, you can check the status at Dodge's site on-line.

I know the fuel mileage issue may sound hokey to some of you but.......

Mass and the extra height of the tire has a lot to do with it. The exact math caluculation escapes me at the moment (long day at work).

Put two trucks or cars side by side with the selected wheel and tire combos and you might be surpised to find that the one with the smaller diameter tires will out accelerate the other, all factors being equal, drivers, ect....especially in the first 60 to 100 feet.

Just my $.02 worth

BTW, fuel economy wise, less rolling resistance. May only be .3 to .5 mpg depending on the driver as a rough guess
