complete ecu blackout and lost 4x4
got a weird problem after i serviced my truck and had the ignition on overnight. after reloading the battery all the lights came up and we werenīt able to reset the MIL with a bosch tester. even at the chrysler dealer the mechanic wasnīt able to get into the ECU and after a couple times he managed to get into the electronic with WITECH. the strange thing was that the ECU had forgot everything. even the VIN number was lost and the car was just driving in Limp mode. after another couple trys we were able to reset the ECU and flash it online with the Data that chrysler had on this VIN. Worked normal after but weeks later (i just use the truck once and then) i was offroad and had to use the 4 wheel mode for the first time but nothing happened. i have the switch type 4x4 and there was no light at all in the instrument cluster nor there was the MIL light going on showing theres a problem with the transfer case. so back to the dodge dealer and surprise....the car doesnīt even know that he has a transfer case. the witech shows no problems in the ecu but we canīt get to initiate or flash or whatever that he knows that thereīs a 4wheel system in the car. looked at the data that we got in the ecu flash cause we thought maybe it flashed the ecu with a non 4wheel car but it showes there and should be stored in the ecu. if you look at the witech screen the TPM or TCS whatever controls the 4x4 transfer case shows grey (ecu not built) and not blue (ecu active). my mechanic has never had a problem like that and he was totally clueless. next problem is that the dodge trucks were never imported from chrysler to europe and so thereīs no backup from chrysler. they even know less and calling there gets some FIAT guys to the tech line, who donīt even know what a RAM truck looks like. the truck was working straight on for 6 years now without any problems to the moment i forgot the ignition on. we checked all the fuses, battery has enough Volts and my mechanic mentioned that he had 2 issues with the front main fuse block that manages the connections but there was the electronic going nuts all over the car but besides the 4x4 the whole car works flawless again. i hope that i get help here cause wintertime is coming and the truck is useless without 4wheel in the Austrian Alps........

do you think a ptm reset would help? didnīt know that something like that exists but i found it here searching for ecm/ptm. Gonna try tomorrow. Can i replace the ECM with every gen III Hemi ECM? any difference in 2 or 4WD, Automatic or stick?
When battery power trickles down to zero over an extended period of time, there is a risk that one or more modules will go to "sleep" and will not wake back up when the power is restored to them. Call it locked, if you will.
FIRST, check EVERY FUSE....then...
Charge the battery up to full capacity. Do a load test on it to make sure it is there. Take BOTH battery terminals off and tie them together. Wait for about an hour and reconnect.

sleepmode...bet my dealer chief mechanic is gonna be happy to get information like that, cause thatīs stuff he definitely doesnīt know and he also surely didnīt learn over here.
is that procedure eventually gonna "wake" the modules up? if not, which module would you replace first in my case? this try stuff gets damn expensive here in europe cause dodge parts are available through fiat but super overpriced and ordering in the states adds a ton of shipping costs and about 30% on import taxes

I would have to see the topography on WiTech or maybe a scan report to even try to guess.
He probably has that info on Dealerconnect as I believe all the Fiat group techs have access to it now. The thing is, there is a ton of information to sift through.
Not saying what I said will work, but it has many, many times for issues like this. It works where a simple battery disconnect will not do it.

hmmmm didnīt work out. battery was good, didnīt drop, had the poles tied for a night, pulled fuse 31 which was pcm in the lid, all gauges went up and dropped/gears had a square around them, almost every light in the dash light up and the little red LED startet blinking all the time. the only thing that didnīt happen was the second chime....it just beeped once after a couple seconds but no furter beeb no matter how long i waited and the car did start up normal not with a 2-3 second delay for the first time after. all those pcm reset guides say thereīs 2 chimes and the first start should be a bit delayed but both things didnīt happen.
