Advice please 2008 Dually
Hi
I live in the UK and have brought a 2008 Dually heavy duty to tow my 5th wheel.
This truck is overkill for the 5th wheel but it was the only truck available at the time apart from 1500 trucks.
The problem is this is a daily drive and the ride unloaded is not the best in the world, can anyone recommend what I can do to make this an easier daily drive but able to deal with the 5th wheel when needed?.
It was suggested taking out some leaf springs and fitting air bags but you are the guys to ask.
Thanks

I would first try.. lowering the air pressure in the tires.....
sometime 5 pounds can do a lot... and maybe 10 in the rears.... all 4 of them. when empty.
I am talking pounds per square inch... not the other units... you may need to convert.

I agree with Chuck, there is an "empty" tire pressure that should be run. I believe its on the drivers side door pillar. If I remember right I think its 40 psig, but not sure right now. Makes a huge difference.
The overloads are only effective with a max weight load, if you aren't loading the bed often, the cheapest way to "soften" the load is to add weight, like sand tubes to the bed.
I do this in winter for mine due to the snow and highway driving, other than that, the only real remedy would be to remove leafs from the spring pack, or possibly looking into a progressive spring pack replacement. Check with a local brake and spring shop to see what they might be able to do. I tend to stay away from air bags personally because they tend to unload the suspension, rather than enhancing it.
You give these guys http://www.sdtrucksprings.com/leaf-s...f06c1562adb91d a call and see if they can do something for you
