Default Put diesel in gas hemi engine

Hi all,

I need assistance. I put diesel in my gas hemi 2003 dodge ram 2500 HD.

I have been to the dealer several times but I am still having issues.

The truck has good power without the 7000 pound horse trailer, but with the trailer my truck is a dog on any hill I encounter. I need help to solve the lack of power issue with the trailer.

We have done the following:
- Drained diesel from the tank
- No computer codes
- Runs smoothly
- Checked transmissions - seems to be shiftly properly

What else can I do?
- Is it an injector problem
- Fuel pump problem?
- Catalytic converter issue?

Thank you.

I wonder if it might have fouled the O2 sensors, making them slightly off but not bad enough to throw a code. I would need an emissions analyzer to be able to tell how the engine is running.

Did you start it. Or did you realize and drain the tank?

I suspect he did drive it...

replace spark plugs and all O2 sensors.

and reset the computer.

and have the Cats inspected... may be clogged..

if he had seen Wrong Fuel.. and NOT started engine...no damage would have happened.

my opinion. and Why did the dealer not check this stuff.?

people have been doing this mistake for 40 years. but in todays world. more common.

How did you manage it? Diesel nozzles are purposely too big to fit into a gas engine filler neck...

I do not know how this guy did it...

but,
I have been told by owners.. they do not insert nozzle into hole.. just lay nozzle onto part for screw on cap.

my opinion... some maybe educated.. but not smart.

I will attempt to answer you all at once.

A: My sisters truck. She has two VW diesel cars and was distracted by her phone
B: She did drive it
C: Dealer dropped and drained the tank
D: Spark plugs have been changed recently
E: @chuck_hammer - no needs for insults - I have an extremely educated family including my sister. Sometimes Sh** happens

Her lack of power issue has been occurring prior to the diesel incident.

I was on a justanswer.com with a certified tech.
He recommended:
1) clearing the codes (no codes are shown now) and reset the fuel adaptive system by removing battery cables and touching them together for 10-15 seconds.
2) Check and/or replace the upstream O2 sensor since it could be worn out and slow to send information to the PCM to adjust the level of fuel the engine needs (i.e. engine could be getting too much fuel resulting in lack of power and poor fuel economy)
3) clean injectors

Other things I have found on the internet related to the power problem is:
1) clean throttle body
2) check valve springs for a broken spring on intake and exhaust valves
3) cat converter clogged

The power loss is only obvious when towing the 7000 pound trailer with horses.

What do you think about this issue?

"... extremely educated family including my sister. Sometimes Sh** happens" Maybe she's not a multi-tasker? Perhaps she should have someone who can pay attention fill the tank.

Are you using tow/haul when you are towing? Is 7k empty or loaded?
