Need an exhaust on my 4.7..
I want to put a new exhaust on my 05 4.7 ram. I just want single, not duels.. What do you suggest.. Basically looking for a better sound.. not to loud, but i wanna hear it..
The muffler shop recommended magnaflow over flowmaster and when I asked him about AT he said he never even heard of it..
Thanks

flowmaster!!! dump it in front of the axle. loud!!!!! but hypnotic. i'd go magnaflow, nice rumble. i like to dump them, out of sight+ it bounces off the ground so it sounds better in the cab. i have a flowmaster(dumped+12 inch echo tip) exhaust, and i dumped it because if i'm going to pay for it i'm going to listen to it!! gibson- ok to

I think you'd be happy with a Magnaflow. I described to the muffler shop guy that I wanted a nice rumble but nothing too obnoxious. Something that sounded good on acceleration, but not too much interior noise. I also wanted him to run the pipes so that they would both exit behind the tire on the passenger side, with oval tips. The look is a little reminiscent of how the Gibson Super Truck setup looks like, but mine doesn't exit in front of the tire. Based on that, he definately recommended Magnaflow over Flowmaster. He said he felt like the Flowmaster would be too obnoxious. After they put the Magnaflow on, and fired it up, it sounded exactly like what I was hoping. Nice rumble, quiet at idle, sounds good on acceleration. I don't remember the exact model number Magnaflow that I have...its one of the universal ones, 3" in/dual 2.5" out. You mentioned you didn't want duals, although I'm not sure why. I couldn't be happier with the Magnaflow. Plus, Magnaflow mufflers have a lifetime warranty while from what I was told, Flowmaster only has a one year warranty.

Magnaflow is good. Stay away from the FM 40 series. The 50 series is quiter. The best exhaust I have heard for quiet and a little rumble is the plain ole Gibson exhaust. My friend had one in a Chevy and you could barey hear it going down the highway inside the cab. Perhaps you can just remove the resonator?

well i went with the FLow master 40 series and left my resonator on. The sound is pretty sweet. Not to loud, but definately not quiet.. The cab noise is a bt more than i wanted, but only at around 1600-1700 rpms. Cruising at 70 is fine.. Thanks for the advice..
