My "tow package" build? What all is involved from Factory?
So I need to figure out what the actual "tow package" was for the Ram 1500. I know there was the factory wiring, that is a known factor, but not sure about what all else was included.. hitch/receiver of course.. and I "think" a special shifter (automatic) that has a graphic for you to push the "OD" off when towing.. not sure on that, but other vehicles who have towing have that type of graphic so it makes sense. I already have a trans cooler on the truck, just the static cooler, nothing fancy.. and I know on tow vehicles they always have an auxiliary trans cooler...
Here is the factory tow harness:
Having issues uploading pics. I am going to see what is up and come back and refresh this thread..
So beyond the harness and obvious Receiver/Hitch.. what is needed?
Again truck has auxiliary trans cooler from factory that I will eventually change out to the B&M stacked unit with the fan (larger of the 2 types they sell with the fan).. but I won't replace the shifter "wand" if that is the only other thing..
I do plan on getting a trans core and rebuilding it upgrading all I can on it.. that is late this year if this year is a good year work wise.
Anyway any help will help

What gear ratio did you go with? And also.. as elementary as this might sound, why? Lower gear = better what? Taller gear mean better what? Not a gear man, never messed with them other than in transmissions.
Numerically higher gear, will keep the engine in the sweet spot for making power. However the trade off is fuel mileage. I had 285/70/17 tires. I went with 4.56. Truck was a pulling machine. Especially on hills.
Makes sense!
