4.7 Engine Swap Question (regarding EGR) HELP Please!
Hey Everyone,
I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 with a blown 4.7 with no egr valve. I found a 10k mileage 4.7 engine pulled from a rollover dodge durango. The mechanic replacing my motor called to let me know my blown motor does not have the EGR valve on it while my replacement motor does. He is not sure the engine will run correctly being there is no where to plug the EGR up.
My question is will this replacement engine still work? Or should I tell my mechanic to halt on dropping it in and return the motor with my warranty?
Needing responses ASAP , Please help
Thanks !

A friend suggested removing the EGR on the new engine and blocking the hole off by welding some sort of plate on it.
Still looking for suggestions before making a decision.

You can delete the egr valve from your system with hp tuners you do not need it to run. So then there is no reason to even worry bout the plug. All depends on pcm if it didn't have one on first motor. Forget about it and keep trucking.
I'm having a simular problem with my 2005 dodge durango 4.7. I bought it a few months ago and the last owners got a new motor put in it. But it does not have a egr spot so the just pluged it up and layed it there. The only code i get is p0401 and p0300. Once I clear them they will be gone for a day or so. And it doesnt always throw a code on the dashboard. I leave my obd2 scanned hooked up to keep tabe on it.
it has a rough idle. Drives great until around 45 and then she runs a little fough for my liking.
new sparkplugs , new coil packs, new injectors, new intake gasket, new vacume hosing, new TCM new o2 sensors.
no breaks in wire, no vacume leak . I have not checked compression yet.
I cant get ot to run right any tips?
and would the egr not being hooked up be the cause of it running rough?
