The transmission is back in the truck and shifting like it should so lets just hope it lasts. I can say for anyone considering doing this job at home because they want to save some money to just go for it. The hardest part is dropping the heavy thing and putting it back in. As long as you have some useful tools to help you and a good friend or family member it'll be some good quality time. The transmission only takes a couple minutes to completely disassemble and with new pieces at the ready you can have it back together in no time. Well thanks for any input people gave me. Be safe.
Do you have a link to rebuild kit you ordered? Having same issues, I just got a 2008 ram 1500 5.7L, and I'm getting code P0733, truck drives but shifts from 1st to 2nd then rpms just keep going up & never shifts to 3rd. I have input&output speed sensors ordered. I did check the sensors currently on the truck, both read the same around .479 on the ohms setting. Transmission fluid is a bit low , going to top it off tomorrow, wish that might be it, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

calebr1487 Did you have any luck fixing your trans? My problem sounds very similar to yours, except it seems to start to grab into 3rd gear for maybe a couple of seconds, just before it lets go and revs way up. I noticed that your reply was recent, while most of the postings relating to P0700 & P0733 problems are several years old.

I haven't, added more transmission fluid nothing changed. Somebody told me it could be the shift solenoid, but I'm going to save up and probably take it to a shop. I bought it as a future pickup for my son(he's 14) for when he gets to drive. Hope to get it fixed within the next year. I Hope you get yours resolved, would like to know what you did to fix yours when you do.

Defaultcalebr1487 I ran across this posting on another site that I found very helpful in diagnosing my problem. It wasn't good news for me, as I believe my overdrive clutch is bad. So now I'm looking to find a rebuilt unit.
