Default 2008 Big Horn wiring question for towing

Hey there. I purchased a 2008 1500 Big horn without towing. We installed a hitch and 7-way, but found no plug at the back and just wired all but the trailer brakes at the time. Now, I am installing a brake controller for a long trip, and found the plug under the dash. My question is since the plug was there under the dash, shouldn't there have been a plug at the rear of the truck? I just need to hook the the trailer brakes as the everything else works fine. Thanks!

I think the plug inside the cab leads to the TIPM. The add-on kit has the loooong wiring to go from front to back for the brake controller.

SO i have also have a 2008 1500 with the factory tow package but no brake controller. My question is should i have the plug under the dash? If so will this be pre wired to the rear hitch already? Also do i go OEM on controller or aftermarket? Thanks.

If your truck came with the 7 pin connector, all the wiring should be there. Including the connector for the controller somewhere under the dash.

Yes i found the blue plug under dash, so that is prewired to the 7 pin harness on the bumper? That is great news if that is the case. The trailer is 4k lbs that should be no issue towing with my 1500 with 5.7L?

Yes, the plug under the dash is connected to the 7 pin plug. I wired my controller to the blue plug (with the pigtail , that plugs into it, that came with the truck when I bought it new) and it works great.

You probably know already, but test the plug with a multimeter.
