Default 2006 Ram tranny slip

2006 Dodge Ram Hemi. Does the torque converter drain off every time the vehicle sets idle a day or two? Seems like it is slipping for about 10 to 20 yards at initial takeoff. Then, does not do this throughout the day. Has been doing this for a long time. Does not get any better or worse. Is this normal?

Your trans is starting to go, most likely.

When is the last time you serviced it? It could need a simple service. Have you checked the fluid level? You may be just low on fluid.

Which transmission do you have, and do you have any mods?

Mine does it too after just sitting a couple hours. Mines been serviced twice. Mechanic said torque converter is draining and to let idle a bit before moving.

He said 06 Ram hemi. Since it's an auto, it's a 545RFE (no other option). Sounds like converter drainback, were filters done recently? There have been issues with aftermarket filters, the internal check valve allows fluid to drain back out. It doesn't hurt anything, other than the fact that you have to wait for the pump to refill the converter. Next filter change put oem filters in. If it works fine the rest of the day that's most likely what it is.
