Overheating problem
I have a 2002 Dodge 1500 with the 4.7 and in City driving it does not get warm but anytime I stay above 65 or 70 miles an hour for an extended. Of time the temperature needle creeps pretty decent way over halfway have check the coolant it is full. I've changed the oil I'm thinking it could possibly be a fan clutch but I would like some further insight. Thank you for any and all advice
since this is a 2002, it really doesn't belong in the gen 4 section so the folks in the other sections may be more familiar with you truck.
In general, the truck would overheat in city driving if it was the clutch. When highway driving, the airflow from moving should be enough for it to stay cool. A couple of things that may impact the cooling at speed is the condition of the radiator (plugged up) or air in the system. If I'm you, and plan on keeping the truck, I would just change the radiator as new ones are fairly inexpensive and it's a DIY.

Be careful with the 4.7 they don't like getting hot and will blow a head gasket. It's possible that it's already happened.

My apologies I thought I was in the right generation for my truck. Since money is kind of tight I will back flush in this weekend. It has not gotten enough to blow the head gasket that I can see it is not blowing oil out the exhaust and I just change the oil yesterday and it look fine. I will buy a new radiator I get more money
