Default Hood project begins

Suncoast creations "Viper" style hood. Fully functional system with all hardware required to tie into my stock airbox. I will post updates as the project moves along. I hope to have it done next weekend, just depends if the rest of my parts show up....

As for the functional part of the system I made a mod. Basically you get a K&N filter and a gasket to seal the hood to the K&N. You have to cut out a section of your airbox lid.

The mod I made was cutting off the air from the stock airbox hole. There were no directions for installing this nor was there anything included to cut the air off from the stock airbox hole. It is hard to see in the pic but I cut a piece of plexiglass and silconed it to the stock filter. This will stop the air from coming up from underneath and all air going into the engine will be coming from the top/hood scoop. I could have just used so good old duct tape to close the stock hole into the airbox but thought this was a little nicer/cleaner look.

I am glad you kept us updated as to your problems with Sun Coast. I --WAS-- seriously considering the purchase of the "Extractor" model of their hood for mine, but seeing how the QA sucks, and I don't have access or talents in the body area. I guess they have lost a customer!!!!

Yes I did. The base did not lay very well, which can not been seen in the pics, clear did fine. Result, looks good in the sun, but not good in the shade. I think it was to cold in the garage when I sprayed the base. I will probably repaint in the summer over vacation.
