HELP
I have this darn 02 quad cab. 5.9 and it is going to drive me off the deep end. Truck starts and begins to idle rough, bucking and jumpimg and skipping. Have recieved a few codes now and then like multiple cylinder misfire ( no friggin kiddin). The thing get 9.2 mpg on a good day downhill with a tail wind. Have done new plugs, new cap, new wires, new rotor, new coil. New pcv, reset on the pcm. All the items mentioned were the best you could buy, not elcheepo stuff. Used to it would only idle rough first thing in the morning, once warm it would run okay. Now it never clears up and today it started smelling horribly like matches or almost sulphur like a bad cat convert. Now, do I go out and spend $260.00 more on 02 sensors ? $300.00 on a cat converter ? Any ideas ? Oh did I mention I did the whole fule pump/filter deal as well. This is the third and LAST Dodge I'll ever buy. All three were TROUBLE from day one, can't believe I was stupid enough to buy a third one.

RE: HELP
Do they use a MAP sensor on the 3rd gen 5.9?
Edit-I used to own a Jeep 5.9 Ltd and I remember the 5.9 intake manifold gaskets creating a vacuum leak. Put a gauge on there and see what kind of vacuum you pull. You can also spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner around the base of the intake and see if the idle changes.

RE: HELP
yUP The thing has a map sensor, guess I could change that first, since it is a guessing game at this point. Try your nearby Dodge dealer for the leather, we looked at the truck we have now at the dealer, it had cloth. He said bring it back in a few days and we'll change it out. He had someone come up from Tampa and they changed seats door panels and all ...to nice black leather. He said it cost him $700.00 bucks. ?
