Default 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD Drive Shaft Questions

Y'all, I am posting this for my husband. And before I get yelled at for being a girl, I know quite a lot about trucks.

In May my husband's pinion broke off into the differential and locked it up. It literally ripped the drive shaft in half. We ordered all the new parts that we needed for the truck. Well, here we are putting it all back together and low and behold the drive shaft that we purchased is too short. Here is the problem: every website we go to we can't find any drive shaft that is longer than the one we bought. The one we purchased is 75.5 inches long. The piece that inserts into the transmission is also too wide on this drive shaft. I am seriously over this truck and about to lose my mind. So, has anyone else has this issue? Do you know where we can purchase the correct drive shaft?

Because if not....I'm about to burn this truck to the ground.

Check with your local drive shaft shop.

Should be able to find one in pretty much any large city. Sometimes, they only cater to heavy trucks, but, might be able to help you out anyway.

Another option would be a used shaft from a junkyard.

What is the cab/bed configuration of your truck?

It's quadcab. We called to see if we could have the drive shaft that we purchased extended but no one will do it because it's steel and not aluminum.
