Default 2wd converstion

FRiend bought a 02 1500 4wd with a broken lf cv axle(missing from vehicle) and then splines from the differential are stripped and part of the shaft is still in the hub bearing. So its not worth fixing the differential. So will the 2wd hub fit and or can the 4wd hub work without the cv axle instaled?

Dont know about 2wd hub. I dont believe 4wd hub will work without shaft. I believe large nut and shaft hold the bearing together. No nut and shaft...bearing hub assbly will come apart...

Dogman is correct. Gotta have that axle stub in the 4x4 hub/bearing unit, or it will come apart. 2wd hub/bearing will not work.

Why isn't it worth fixing?? Used parts could be had for a reasonable price.....

On an 02-08 (and probably beyond) 1500, 2wd and 4wd wheel hubs are the same, only differentiated by what type of ABS system installed in the truck (whether the sensor is there or not). Even the 2wd hub has splines in it. This is the specific hub for my 03 2wd.
