Default 2005 1500 QC 4x4 w/4.7L alternators

I need to replace my alternator due to failed bearings that are making a hellacious amount of noise. I can find a reman from Carquest (Advance Auto) for as low as $124.99 or a reman Bosch for $198.00 and various ones in between, or a new OEM for high dollar.

I don’t “cheap out” my truck, but...I only put about 3K on it a year now at most. So a cheaper alternator should last me the life of the truck (or engine). I say should, but I haven’t had to change a component that could be replaced with a reman part (alternator, starter, etc) since I’ve owned it, so I have no clue what fit and reliability issues there may be with reman parts today.

Has anyone used a Carquest alternator? Any issues? Any recommendations otherwise?

Just get one with a lifetime warranty. Then it doesn't matter.

That’s one way to look at it. But...I don’t want to be loading a deer in the bed at the far end of the farm and have a potential POS aftermarket crap out on me lol.

That's a danger with any part though...... I have had high-dollar parts be bad right out of the box..... Sometimes, ya just gotta trust 'em.

Got a reman from Napa. With discount, was $84 plus $25 core. Minus core charge and new serpentine belt it's $118. Not bad.
