Default 06 Ram 1500 Transmission Problems

I have an 06 1500 Hemi 5.7 Quad 2WD with 203,000 miles original Transmission. Originally I thought the rear differential was starting to give me problems. When making a left turn from a stop, I would feel a slight vibration under my drivers seat. I would not feel it when I was going forward from a stop. Lately, I have been getting some bucking when starting to go forward which would stop after I started moving. Today, I noticed that when starting in reverse the truck would remain stationary until I pressed the accelerator and then would rev high and not move. I returned to park and back to reverse and it would work, but still would not move in gear without pressing the accelerator. I realize that at 200,000 miles its just probably time for it to go. I did some research looking for a reman transmission and that place I found wanted $3020.00 for the part. I found another place that sells reman transmissions, but all they had was a used transmission. They said it only had 42,000 miles on it and it was $895.00 with free shipping. I do have an appointment with a local mom and pop transition shop on Monday but its hard to sit around and not try to do as much research as possible in the mean time.. I use this truck for work and I put a lot of mile on it so I want to make sure I make the right choice.. I guess my question is, reman vs used vs rebuild.

Thanks,

I would vote for a rebuild, at a local shop. You will likely spend a bit more, but, if there is ever a problem, you can go back to the shop that did the work.

You can get very low miles one for $500 to $700. Check http://car-part.com we own a trans shop but sometimes it is not worth building when they are so cheap.
