adding an overhead console module
Just wondering if anyone has had success installing an electronic overhead module onto a base model not factory equipped with this option. I have a base 2007 ds 2500 ST
Pre CAN BUS era you could just plug and play; now its much more involved.
I'm going to attempt it. Not sure if i will need to run CAN BUS wires and update the vehicle build in the modules to recognize the new module on the bus. The danger is making a mistake and having no CAN BUS communication.
If anyone has tried this, chime in
Thank you.

Check and see if the wiring is already there for it.... Dodge has been notorious for using the same wiring harness across all models, and providing connectors for all the options, whether you have them or not.
i had a quick look in the driver a-pillar cover; where the body connector meets the connector for the console. there are 4 different pins from the factory body harness to the one i took with the overhead module. From the diagram, it appears the only one i need to run for the module is the grd on pin 14. Later in the week, I will jumper in a fused grd for testing purposes and see what happens.
